    Cannabinoid receptors in the dog's digestive tract

    Researchers mapped cannabinoid receptors throughout the gut. They did not test CBD treatment.

    What they did
    Researchers examined digestive tissue from dogs under the microscope.
    What happened
    Cannabinoid receptors were spread throughout the gut: in its lining, immune cells, blood vessels and muscle.
    Good to know
    A tissue study. It suggests where CBD could act in digestion, not that it treats a condition.

    What happened
    While taking CBD, dogs had less pain and were more active, according to both owners and vets.
    Good to know
    No side effects were noticed by owners, but one liver value (ALP) rose in blood tests.

    CBD- and CBDA-rich hemp oil for hard-to-control epilepsy

    CBD and CBDA oil reduced seizures in a small trial of dogs with hard-to-control epilepsy.

    What they did
    Fourteen dogs with hard-to-control epilepsy received a hemp oil rich in CBD and CBDA and a dummy oil for 12 weeks each.
    What happened
    Seizures fell from an average of 8 to 5, and 6 of the 14 dogs had at least half as many seizures, compared with none on the dummy oil.
    Good to know
    A small study. Some dogs were sleepy or briefly unsteady, and one liver value rose slightly.

CBD oil for dogs: frequently asked questions

What is CBD oil for dogs?

CBD oil for dogs contains cannabidiol (CBD), a natural compound from the hemp plant, in a carrier oil. Pet Routine for Dogs contains 5% CBD and 0.5% CBG in MCT oil, with 0% THC, in a 30 ml dropper bottle.

Is CBD oil safe for dogs?

Studies in dogs have found CBD generally well tolerated, including daily use for six months. Some dogs had mild side effects, such as vomiting or loose stools, and blood tests sometimes showed a raised liver value. Speak to your vet first, especially if your dog is unwell or takes medicines.

How do I use Pet Routine for Dogs?

Shake the bottle well before use. Start with 1–2 drops, 1–2 times per day. Adjust gradually over time according to your dog’s response and your vet’s advice. Follow the directions supplied with the product.

Can CBD oil make my dog high?

No. Pet Routine for Dogs has a 0% THC specification, so it does not contain the compound in cannabis that causes a high.

Is Pet Routine for Dogs organic and vegan?

Yes. It is made from organic Swiss hemp and contains no animal-derived ingredients.

Where is it made and tested?

It is produced in Switzerland under Good Manufacturing Practice and tested in Swiss laboratories for its cannabinoid content and microbiological quality.

What do studies say about CBD for dogs?

Studies have looked at CBD in dogs with arthritis, epilepsy, stress and itchy skin. Several reported benefits, such as less pain, more activity or fewer seizures, and long-term studies found CBD well tolerated. The studies used different CBD products and doses, so their results cannot be applied directly to any single product.

Can I use it if my dog takes medicines?

Ask your vet first. CBD can affect how some medicines are broken down in the liver, and one study found a liver value rose more when CBD was given with anti-inflammatory painkillers.

How much CBD is in one drop?

Each 30 ml bottle contains approximately 600 drops. Based on the labelled formula, one drop contains approximately 2.5 mg CBD and 0.25 mg CBG. Drop size can vary; these figures describe the contents, not a recommended daily amount.
