CBD Oil for Pets - Clinically Tested

Our CBD oil for pets is of the highest quality and extracted from organic Swiss hemp mixed with organic olive oil, hemp seed, or MCT oil, and is full of natural cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, nutrients, and antioxidants.

We develop our CBD products for pets in a long-term research collaboration with the University of Bologna and its Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences. Our CBD oils for pets have been used in various published clinical studies to document the positive effects of cannabidiol (CBD) in cats, dogs and horses.

Scientific research on the effect of CBD on cats, dogs, and horses

We have a research collaboration with the University of Bologna and their Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences for a range of studies on the effect of cannabidiol (CBD) in cats, dogs and horses.

The Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences is studying the effect of cannabidiol (CBD) in animals. The objective is to increase the understanding of the effect on animals to continue to improve our product development of CBD pet products. Research study shows a positive effect of CBD on cats

The research study, "Localization of cannabinoid and cannabinoid related receptors in the cat gastrointestinal tract", is published and available.

Abstract from our research study on cats:

Cannabinoid receptors showed a wide distribution in the feline gastrointestinal tract layers. Although not yet confirmed/supported by functional evidence, the present research might represent an anatomical substrate potentially valuable for helping the therapeutic use of cannabinoids during gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases in feline species.

Research studies show a positive effect of CBD on dogs

Professor Roberto Chiocchetti DVM, PhD. and his team from the Department of Veterinary Medical Science also did two research studies on dogs funded by InnoVet:

Localization of cannabinoid receptors CB1, CB2, GPR55, and PPARα in the canine gastrointestinal tract

Abstract from the first research study on dogs:

Cannabinoid receptors showed a wide distribution in the gastrointestinal tract of the dog. Since cannabinoid receptors have a protective role in inflammatory bowel disease, the present research provides an anatomical basis supporting the therapeutic use of cannabinoid receptor agonists in relieving motility disorders and visceral hypersensitivity in canine acute or chronic enteropathies.

Cellular Distribution of Canonical and Putative Cannabinoid Receptors in Canine Cervical Dorsal Root Ganglia

Abstract from the second research study on dogs:

Growing evidence indicates cannabinoid receptors as potential therapeutic targets for chronic pain. Consequently, there is an increasing interest in developing cannabinoid receptor agonists for treating human and veterinary pain. To better understand the actions of a drug, it is of paramount importance to know the cellular distribution of its specific receptor(s). The distribution of canonical and putative cannabinoid receptors in the peripheral and central nervous systems of dogs is still in its infancy. In order to help fill this anatomical gap, the present ex vivo study has been designed to identify the cellular sites of cannabinoid and cannabinoid-related receptors in canine spinal ganglia. The present study may represent a morphological substrate to consider in order to develop therapeutic strategies against chronic pain.

Research studies show a positive effect of CBD on horses

The Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences at the University of Bologna published our mutual research study on CBD and horses called "Localization of cannabinoid and cannabinoid-related receptors in the equine dorsal root ganglia (horses)"

Abstract from our first research study on horses:

We successfully demonstrated that CBD receptors have a wide distribution in the sensory neurons and glial cells of the equine spinal ganglia. The finding of our study, supported by Formula Swiss, represents an important anatomical basis upon which it will be possible to continue with other preclinical and clinical studies aimed at investigating and possibly supporting the specific therapeutic uses of non-psychotropic CBD and other cannabinoid agonists against noxious stimulation in horses.

Our second study on horses, "Localisation of Cannabinoid and Cannabinoid-Related Receptors in the Horse Ileum", is published in the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, volume 104, September 2021.

Abstract from our second research study on horses:

Colic is a common digestive disorder in horses and one of the most urgent problems in equine medicine. A growing body of literature has indicated that the activation of cannabinoid receptors could exert beneficial effects on gastrointestinal inflammation and visceral hypersensitivity. The localisation of cannabinoid and cannabinoid-related receptors in the intestine of the horse has not yet been investigated. The purpose of this study was to immunohistochemically localise the cellular distribution of canonical and putative cannabinoid receptors in the ileum of healthy horses.

Horses are often affected by gastrointestinal pathologies. Researchers are searching for new therapies for equine gastrointestinal diseases. New products with cannabinoid receptor agonists have been produced for horses. Activation of cannabinoids receptors could attenuate intestinal inflammation.

The many benefits of CBD oil for animals

CBD oil can help with various acute and chronic diseases. While some conditions have been studied more than others, research has shown that CBD can sometimes help with arthritis, immunity, stress responses, aggression and digestive issues. Some research also shows promise for CBD in helping treat diabetes, organ diseases, and symptoms of cancer treatment.

Veterinarians have found that CBD can help treat acute injuries such as sprains, torn ligaments, broken bones, and even post-operative care by reducing swelling, pain, and stiffness, based on CBD's effects on an animal's endocannabinoid system.
