Organic certification for cosmetics means an independent body checks that a product meets a published organic standard. Our CBD skincare line is certified under the COSMOS ORGANIC standard. Our CBD oils are made from hemp grown following organic principles; they do not carry an organic certificate.
What is the COSMOS standard?
The COSMOS-standard sets the criteria a company must meet to sell its products as organic or natural cosmetics. It is managed by COSMOS-standard AISBL, a non-profit association based in Brussels. Its founding members are BDIH (Germany), Cosmebio and Ecocert (France), ICEA (Italy) and the Soil Association (UK), and certification is carried out by authorised certification bodies that inspect certified operations every year (COSMOS-standard).
What do the COSMOS signatures mean?
- COSMOS ORGANIC: finished cosmetic products that meet the organic criteria.
- COSMOS NATURAL: finished cosmetic products that meet the natural criteria.
- COSMOS CERTIFIED: raw materials with organic content.
- COSMOS APPROVED: raw materials without organic content.
As of October 2026, the COSMOS-standard reports more than 31,100 products in 80 countries carrying the COSMOS ORGANIC or COSMOS NATURAL signature.
